The Garden of Remembrance
This beautiful garden in the heart of Dublin city was designed by Daithí Hanly, and is dedicated to the memory of all those who gave their lives in the cause of Irish Freedom. It sits behind the historic Rotunda Hospital, in the centre of Parnell (previously Rutland) Square. The large sculpture by Oisín Kelly is based on the theme of the Children of Lir, and represents the long struggle of the Irish people. Throughout the garden are found motifs from early Irish history and mythology. The garden is intended as a place of quiet remembrance and reflection.
